Connected Teachers Growing Connected Learners
* Pullenvale Environmental Education Centre (PEEC) is one of 25 centres operated by the Department of Education.
PEEC designs, promotes and delivers arts-based environmental education programs for school children P-7 and additionally provides professional development for teachers. Connecting to self, others and place is our key focus within all centre programs.
All PEEC programs are linked to the curriculum and are delivered in an engaging way creative way using Storythread as a pedagogical tool. Our staff are passionate about growing nature connection and care through the powerful use of imagination in combination with real-life experiences of nature as a place of beauty, awe and wonder.
* PEEC is located within the suburb of Pullenvale, within the place now known as Brisbane. We acknowledge the ancestors, the traditional elders, and the carriers of the rich Aboriginal culture of the past, present and future. We appreciate and treasure the special places: the land of the Pullenvale Environmental Education Centre (PEEC) grounds and the surrounding forests that we are able to visit and experience. As environmental educators the PEEC team aims to embed Indigenous perspectives in all our work and endeavour to live by our ethic of 'Speaking and Acting with Respect towards Self, Others and Place'. We acknowledge the ongoing wisdom shared with us by the Elders who continue to support, mentor and inspire us every time we meet.
Our centre is proud to be developing a Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) xternal link to strengthen relationships, respect and opportunities in the classroom, around the school and with the community. To learn more about the RAP process, visit reconciliation.org.au/narragunnawali.
