Historical Buildings at PEEC
PEEC's grounds are unique in that it's programs and operations spaces are all historical buildings from rural areas surrounding Brisbane that have been donated to, and are maintained by, the Centre.
Under the auspices of founding Principal Dr Ron Tooth, the Centre grew from two historic buildings (Old School and Residence) upon its' establishment (in 1981) to include a collection of historic buildings moved from other locations and then restored (Redbank State School Residence; Laidley South State School and Lunch Shed; Dayboro State School Residence and Kitchen; Forest Gate Cottage; Ballard Cottage; Holt family Slab Hut).
While the historic aspects of these buildings are utilised particularly in our
Hoodwinked and
History Hunter programs, the Centre's historic buildings are all activated as spaces for our suite of
on-site programs and for the Centre's operations.
