PEEC's Storythread Pedagogy engages with a wide range of historical buildings and theatrical spaces maintained at the centre.
Historical Buildings
PEEC's grounds are unique in that it's programs and operations spaces are all historical buildings from rural areas surrounding Brisbane that have been donated to, and are maintained by, the centre. The historic aspects of these buildings are utilised
particularly in our
Hoodwinked and
History Hunter programs, and also provide the spaces for all of our other programs and operations.
We thank the
Kenmore Historical Society for continuing to assist us in caring for the history of the buildings and artefacts that PEEC is custodian of.

Theatrical Spaces
PEEC has created and maintains several unique theatrical spaces that service our Storythread programs. Laidly Theatre, or our 'Pretending Place', is a black box space that is transformed throughout the year into Mrs Muddle-up's magic room amongst the trees (
Muddles), a Zanetoid space ship visiting Earth
(Mission Earth) and the Gubon press conference space (
Bugs 'R' Us). Students also 'time-travel' in the Old Pullenvale School to become school students in 1897 (
Hoodwinked), and in 1914 (
History Hunters), while Dayboro becomes Grandma Whittacker's special sitting room for our
Forest Kingdom program.

Play-based spaces
Our Arts Office front yard space is transformed into Harvey's Reused Play Place for the
Ramble 'n' Play program, while the front of Dayboro becomes the Wondering with the Whittackers play space for our
Forest Kingdom program.
