History Hunters investigate their place and share the stories they discover with others.
"Have you ever hunted for treasure in your backyard and discovered clues about the past?
"Imagine the stories these clues could share! You can find out a lot about a place by uncovering its history. There are only a few people who know the stories of Pullenvale and if these stories are not shared they will be lost forever..."
The History Hunters program breathes new life into the history curriculum as students investigate the many stories and perspectives of their place and surrounding district that have occurred throughout time. PEEC is the perfect place to do this; the centre is the custodian of many old buildings inherited from around South-East Queensland, including the original Pullen Vale School building.
Connecting to the Grade 2 Curriculum, students visit the ‘Old School’ and other buildings across the Pullenvale Environmental Education Centre, discover clues about the past, investigate how technology has changed through time and engage with stories about their local community history.
This program takes place at the Pullenvale Environmental Education Centre (no external site visits). See Maps and Transport for location details.
