Blanket role – History Hunters
History Hunters investigate their place for clues and stories of the past and share their discoveries with others.

'Imagine the stories these clues could share! You can find out a lot about a place by uncovering its history. There are only a few people who know the stories of Pullenvale and if these stories are not shared they will be lost forever...'
The History Hunters program breathes new life into the history curriculum as students investigate the many stories and perspectives of their place and surrounding district that have occurred throughout time. PEEC is the perfect place to do this; the centre is the custodian of many old buildings inherited from around South-East Queensland, including the original Pullen Vale School building.
Connecting to the Year 2 HASS curriculum, students visit the ‘Old School’ and other buildings across the Pullenvale Environmental Education Centre, discover clues about the past, investigate how technology has changed through time and engage with stories about the local community's history.
This program can be delivered as a 'half-day' program, booked as 2 x 2 hr incursions (full day booking required - program will be delivered twice within the day to two separate classes; transport will need to be organised to / from school for each class to attend their 2 hour session only, with both sessions to be delivered within school hours) or as a full-day program (recommended for schools with a drive time above 20 minutes from PEEC - this version of the program is intended for two classes to attend the full day at PEEC, alternating between the on-site historical investigation and role-play and an off-site visit to Moggill Forest to learn about the pre- and post-colonial uses of the local forest's resources, and how the changes throughout the colonisation era influenced the lives of the local peoples.

Bookings for 2 classes (1 attending for the morning and 1 for the afternoon) on the same day preferred.
This option may be suitable for schools within 20 minutes travel time from PEEC.
'Full day' - 9.15am - 2.15pm
2 classes to attend the full day - each class will alternate on-site investigation with off-site Forest Visit (bus required to transport each class to and from Moggill forest during the day).
This option is suitable for all schools, including those located 25+ mins travel time from PEEC.

The History Hunters excursion day is available within Terms 1 and 4. The half-day program takes place at the Pullenvale Environmental Education Centre (no external site visits), while the full-day program also involves an external site visit for each class (alternately) to Moggill Forest (Mill Rd entrance - bus required to stay all day for transport).
